Opening Night at Bklyn Designs 2016
BKLYN DESIGNS kicked off NYCxDesign for 2016, and we were there thanks to our friends at Novita. The second year for the show in Greenpoint, which is convenient for us—it's just a short walk from our studio. A new development this year that I thought was interesting and fun was several offsite shows in storefronts in the neighborhood around the main event. That makes sense, nearly everyone living in Greenpoint is a designer!
Pratt was there with student work, and we made it just in time for the keynote address, which featured the creator of the Plus Pool as a panelist.
American Design Club had a good presence—featuring fun and games per usual.
These oversized blocks provided by Modify Furniture were a big hit with the kids (and after a couple drinks, us).
Big congrats to Casey Mack of Popular Architecture, whose lighting collection (partially manufactured by our workshop) won Best in Show!
Peg Woodworking debuted some new seating that involved a fresh take on traditional weaving.
The bold forms of these new pieces by Evan Z. Crane made me pause for a moment.
I'm a big fan of the 1st Tri-Stools by Talbot & Yoon. Reminds me of a pummel horse!
The Micro Loft by Resource Furniture and AJ Madson.
Coney Island Lounge by UHURU.
A very nice Swedish girl invited us across the street to an afterparty sponsored by Madera. It's great to see the neighborhood getting involved!
